Calcium and The Lelia - 18 August 2009

A Marlin trip from Liverpool Marina. The original plan was the Dublin, however we found the sea a little choppy for our liking and opted for a more sheltered site. Calcium was a single screw steamship owned (as her name suggests) by ICI. She was mined en-route Fleetwood to Llandulas and sank despite the efforts of her sister ship Sodium. She lies upside down with a fairly intact bow section creating a nice swim through. Bob lifted at least one lobster for the pot, and chucked another in my face when I peered in at him inside the bow.

The second dive was The Lelia, a paddle steamer, which Cosmo discovered in 1986 and featured on 'Wreck Detectives' in 2004. We did some digging in the sand and Cosmo recovered a bottle from her hold.

An edible crab (with awful white balance - the camera was set up for ambient light and this was lit with an incandescent lamp) living in the bow of the Calcium
